We are seeing an increasing amount of jeans brands doing more than simply try and make money.

It’s so cool and we wish all companies would make an effort and put more stuff back in.

This is a trend that makes us feel good, so we’re going to shine a light on a few of them right here.

You might be surprised at how much is being done.

Since 1996 Lee has been leading National Denim Day in aid of  women’s cancer programs.

Their philosophy is One Day, One Cause, One Cure. Since the start they have raised over $80mm!

In 2005 Edun Jeans was started by rock star Bono from U2, along with his wife, Ali Hewson. The goal is to build Africa as a viable source of fashion garments from fait trade factories.

The jeans are made from organic cotton. In 2007 they started Edun Live, a blank tee shirt that is 100% “grow to sew” African produced.

Citizen of Humanity donates a portion of every jean to Conservation international to help preserve the earth’s natural heritage.

In 2006 Levi’s started Levi’s Eco, an organic line of jeans. It features recycled buttons, zippers and rivets and natural colored stitching.

We are located in the Bay Area and it’s hard to miss the great work the company has done for numerous causes where it is based.

Loomstate was one of the first denim brands to use only organic farming for a sustainable future.

Launched in 2004 by designers Rogan Gregory and Scott Mackinlay they focus on environmentally responsible methods of production.

Red is an eco clothing line including styles from several top brands including The Gap. they send 50% of the profits  to the Global Red fund.

Profits go to the fight against disease in third world countries.

Finally Del Forte denim is recognized for their use of organic cotton and supporting sustainable arming practices.
