In 1978 Sloggi, a German company owned and run by Triumph Lingerie who started over 100 years ago was launched under the slogan ‘the cotton revolution.’ With briefs hardly considered ‘unmentionable’ anymore Sloggi designed and manufactured soft, smooth, easy care briefs in a revolutionary new fabric called Corespun. Triumph International began in the 1970s developing this unique fabric. Essentially, cotton was wrapped around the Lycra thread which when woven, produced a comfy, soft, stretchy textile in which only cotton is felt next to the skin of the wearer. This blend ensured that Sloggi smalls retained their wonderful shape and figure-hugging fit no matter how many times they were washed. Made of 95% cotton and 5% Lycra, they could withstand temperatures of up to 200F (95 C).
