You don’t even need to measure yourself
We get asked lots of questions and measuring comes up alot. There are lots of good reasons. Here’s a little discovery we made early on.
When we ask ten women to measure the same women we get ten different sets of measurements. Ooops.
Then, best of all. We don’t need you to. Our approach results in 94% of women telling us they love their jeans.
Over 7.1 million women have used Zafu. The press love us and we get amazing emails every day.
Testing is the secret behind how we know which jeans will fit you best!
Before we start – we are 100% independent. We cover hundreds of brands. We’re totally unbiased. We get asked to help jeans brands & retailers with the development of their new styles. We’re experts and quite proud of that.
Over the past six years we’ve done 12,565 tests and counting. We learned alot. So here’s the secret of how we test jeans. You might get a few surprises.
Let’s start with the old fashioned way?
Jeans testing has not changed much since the 1960′s. They agree upon a size you want to test and then you choose three locations in the US. For some reason people believe that you need to do this to get a good cross section of women.
Then they invite women to come to the testing center and their comments are recorded and a fit expert looks at each women and writes down her thoughts as well.
Some brands don’t even do this. They have a lady at their offices that they like. She tries on each new style and the jean is changed to fit that person perfectly. She’s called a fit model. if you look like her, you’re in luck, and if you don’t…. well you know the rest.
Before we started Zafu we too worked for jeans companies and became frustrated with this approach.
There had to be a better way

As we mentioned, we have literally tested thousands of women. We knew that women come in many different shapes, so we spent years looking at women and working out that there are actually many different types of shapes. Way more than 10 – it’s all about being really accurate!
Is the same always the same?
Once we knew that we started to see that two women who were the same shape, always had the same issues with the same jeans. Duh, of course we do. If you had an identical twin sister and put on the same jeans, of course they would fit the same.
So now we knew there were lots of shapes and that people who were the same shape, fit the same jeans the same!
So now the next question was how to work out your shape.
Going to the doctor
If we didn’t meet you, could we work out what shape you were?
If you go and see a doctor, you’ll be asked about your symptoms, they will take your blood pressure and run some tests so that the doctor can be certain about what your suffering from.
We learned from that. In 2 minutes you can tell us about your jeans wearing symptoms and from that we can work out what shape you are.
Our tests are different
When we do tests the first thing we check is the woman’s shape. Then we try on as many as 30 different jeans. We do this to test our accuracy. We can now always tell them which brand and style will fit best.
It’s funny how many women come in and love their jeans and ask if they can pay for them and keep them!
The good news
There are very few jeans that won’t fit someone really well. The challenge for you is that you don’t know your shape and you don’t know which jeans would even fit your shape. that’s why we save women so much time and pain, because we can direct you to your jeans like a laser.

12000 tests! That’s unbelievable. You’ve tested 12000 women. I guess you’ve seen it all. Congrats on the site though. Liz
OK, I came back to say thanks. Three days ago I did the Zafu fit questions and your jeans recomendation were spot on. I drove to our mall and the first two pairs fit me great. Thank you zafu. I don’t understand how the iphone thing works. Can someone explain it?
I live in the Bay Area could i come in to your office and do one of your tests? I’d do it for free.
I just found you. Where have you been all my life?
Nice post – I just wanted to say thanks for the guide I got from you. I was surprised how much was in it. Thank you.
I cannot imagine testing more than 12500 women in jeans. You girls are crazy.
I came back as well. I signed up, got my recommendations and the jeans fit first time. Thanks Blair. I don’t know how you really do it, a miracle if you ask me, but it worked.

Hi Amanda
Thanks for the nice words. I’m glad you liked your jeans. No miracles though. Just years of experience, testing (over 12,500 women) and seeing the reactions of millions of women as well.
Have fun
Blair
Hey Blair, so I just found your website and I am liking it. So does Zafu helps me with other clothing beside jeans?
Hey I know you guys. We did a story about Zafu in our magazine about 3 years ago. Love the new look of the site Blair!! Great!!
Hi Lisa
Thanks for the nice note and remembering us!
We’ve got great feedback on the new look!
Angelique
Blair, thanks ever so much for replying to my post. I’m a bit surprised and sorry that I did not see this sooner. As i said, I joined your club and got my recommendations and found 2 jeans that fit great! Best of all my days shopping turned out to be an hour, so you saved me some time.
Do you do Plus Size as well?
Nice site, my friend told me about you last week and I’d forgotten the name.
ok. So I signed up. Received my recommendations. Thanks. But it doesn’t solve my biggest problem! I have developed a serious “tummy” in past few months. I want to know which brands and styles work best for serious tummy control. You addressed rear-end shape, gape, etc. MY new problem is oozing tummy and muffin top. Can’t you add that to your “7 Questions?” I think you need 8 questions to solve my issues. At the moment, I am disappointed with the service. I had such high hopes. I also was hoping I could click on a brank (i.e Levis, Cookie Johnson, NYDJ, etc) and find recommendations within a brand –or discover this isn’t the brand for me. Can you help?
Hi Amanda,
We are working on a new product feature that will give you just what you’re looking for – the ability to click a brand and find what works for you – or not! Tummy issues are a common concern – Question 8 it is.
Do you have a U.K. site? I’m don’t have access to most of the American brands and then there is the size issue (we’re different over here!)
Hi, we are focused on the USA market at this time – we’d love to branch out to the UK at some point!
